Characteristics: Lavandula stoechas is an aromatic, evergreen shrub. It bears fragrant foliage and distinctive purple flowers that are accompanied by 4 sterile bracts at the peak of each flowerhead. French Lavender plants are also a favourite of bees and butterflies.
Growth and Spread: Ultimate height and spread of 0.5-1m, over the course of 5 years.
Period of Interest: Evergreen foliage maintains year-round interest. Flowering will begin to appear from mid-Spring through to late Summer.
Care and Maintenance: Place in an area of full sun. Soil can be chalk, sand or loam, whilst making sure it is well-drained. Keep watering to a level where the soil is dry-to-moist.

The French Lavender plant is typically low maintenance. You should place it in an area of full sunlight, whilst making sure its soil is chalk, sand or loam-based. Allow soil to dry out between waterings. You should also look to cut the plant back after its peak bloom period to stimulate shorter and sturdier stems.
