Product description
Skimmia 'Finchy' is a superb, compact evergreen shrub that provides outstanding long-season interest. As a male variety, its main display is the large, showy panicles of greenish-white flower buds that are held prominently above the foliage for many months. These buds then open into highly fragrant white flowers. It will not produce any berries but is an excellent pollinator for female varieties.
For the best results and healthiest deep green foliage, Skimmia 'Finchy' requires a position in partial to full shade with moist, well-drained, and acidic soil. This low-maintenance shrub needs very little pruning, as it naturally forms a neat, compact dome. If any light shaping is required, it should be done immediately after flowering has finished to avoid removing the buds for the following display.
Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
Garden Plant Size Guide

Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
Skimmia Finchy are male plants, so they will not produce berries. Their job is to provide the pollen for female varieties. Plant one male for every few female Skimmias to guarantee a brilliant berry display on the female plants.
How to Water
Skimmia shrubs do not perform well if allowed to dry out completely, so consistent moisture is key. Water the Skimmia Finchy regularly, especially during dry spells, to keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged.
How to Plant
For your Skimmia Finchy to thrive, plant it in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil, ensuring the top of the root ball is level with or slightly above the surrounding ground. Water deeply and regularly during its first growing season to establish its roots, and apply a layer of mulch to help retain moisture.
