Common Name: Painted-Leaf Begonia, Fancy-Leaf Begonia, King Begonia
Characteristics: The Begonia rex Hugh McLauchlan is an indoor plant with vibrant red foliage. This visual effect of the King Begonia can give an indoor space a striking look, along with a darkly shaded veining on top. This veining helps the cluster of leaves to add a powerful presence within the room. This Hugh McLauchlan variety of Rex Begonia also offers air-purifying qualities which sees the removal of harmful pollutants and unwanted toxins, which are then replaced by fresher air all round.
Plant Advice: Begonia Rex Hugh McLauchlan should be placed in partial shade. This should be coupled with the avoidance of any direct sunlight as it will cause harmful leaf damage as time goes on. Watering should be carried out when the soil is dry to touch. This can be continued on a once-a-week basis throughout the year, until the Winter dormant period when these levels should drop to once every two weeks.

This Hugh McLauchlan variety has the very stunning colour of red upon each leaf, with a lightly patterned darker shade of veining giving it a great platform to provide any room with a plant that is full of character and presence. King Begonia can bring its air-purifying qualities to the table which, by doing this, will disperse of any harmful pollutants and unwanted toxins in the air around it, creating a stress-free living area.
