• Solanum Jasminoides, more commonly known as Potato Vine, is a gorgeous, fragrant patio tree. The star-shaped flowers are joined by a neat, yellow bud in the centre of each flower, allowing for an added element of style. • The genus of this tree is Solanum, a large genus of flowering plants which can reguarly produce food crops that include, potatoes, tomatoes and eggplant. This genus consists of around 2,000 species of plants, with many deriving from the status as 'plant of the sun' due to its Latin links. This variety comes from the Solanum laxum species, allowing it to gain the Potato Vine common name.
• The gorgeous flowers of this Solanum will bloom from June - September, bringing elegant flowers with neat colour present throughout. It will also feature a lovely, fragrant smell of jasmine in the same period, adding to its great impact in the garden. On top of that, its green foliage and subtle, lollipop stem will hold it all in place.
• Planting this tree in moist, well-drained, fertile soil is best for its long term growth, alongside ensuring the soil remains moist through regular watering. In terms of which conditions suit it most, full sunlight is recommended.
