Punica Nana Patio Trees are a compact, deciduous variety of pomegranate plants with glossy, oblong, green leaves which emerge in spring in shades of bronze. In summer, bright, peachy orange, funnel-shaped flowers bloom followed by deep red pomegranates. Although fruits are edible, it is not recommended to eat them due to the sour taste.

These outdoor plants can reach an ultimate height and spread of approximately 1-1.5 metres and will grow best in well-drained soil in a fully sunny area. Regular watering is recommended during the growing period, but once established they are fairly drought-tolerant plants.

Although this is a relatively cold-hardy variety, it is an ideal choice for growing in containers which can be brought indoors during particularly harsh weather over the winter period. Early spring is an ideal time to prune any wayward branches and shoots to encourage growth for the coming season.

Punica Nana Patio Trees are perfect garden plants for slightly smaller gardens thanks to the compact size. Although they may be small, the bright and vibrant blossoms certainly pack a punch in the springtime, adding a flush of colour to the area.

With bronze foliage opening in spring before turning green, and deep red pomegranates after flowering, these patio trees provide interest for a large part of the year and can even be evergreen in warmer climates!

These garden trees are perfect for smaller gardens in particular, and they’d make excellent front door plants, or placed at gates or entryways. The beautifully bright greens, orange and red shades of this plant make it a real eye-catcher, even in small spaces!
