Product description

This six pack of Viola Orange bedding plants have a gorgeous shade of orange filling their petals to great effect. Within this, there is a black, whisker-like design that disperses out from the centre of the plant. This is a very unique and eye-catching pattern, adding perfectly to the plants lush, green foliage. They will begin blooming in early Spring, before substantial growth takes place throughout the Summer months and into early Autumn. They can also produce flowers in Winter, only in milder conditions. Planting them straight from the tray upon arrival is recommended. From there, they will thrive with ease when given the correct care.

When planting these gorgeous Violas, moist, well-drained soil should be present, as well as good exposure to full sunlight when possible. When watering the plant, you should do so regularly, as that is recommended. Overwatering the plant will have harmful effects on the Violas, so please avoid this.

Please Note: Images are for illustrative purposes only and designed to be a representation of the item(s) being sold. Depending on seasonality, deciduous plants may be supplied in their dormant state and without leaves. Plants may also be pruned back, lower than stated heights, to encourage new growth.

Level of Care
Once established, violas are very low-maintenance. For a continuous show of flowers, the most important task is to deadhead by regularly pinching off any faded blooms. Water plants in pots and hanging baskets when the compost begins to dry out, but those in the ground are far more self-sufficient.

Instructions

Top Tip

The secret to keeping your violas flowering for a very long period is regular deadheading. At least once a week, go over the plants and pinch off any faded flowers, including the little stem behind them. This simple task stops the plant from putting energy into making seeds and encourages it to produce a continuous and impressive display of new blooms.

How to Water

Bedding plants in containers need watering more often than those in the ground, as pots dry out much faster. Thirsty, fast-growing varieties are more demanding than hardier types. For any bedding plant, the best guide is to feel the soil and only water thoroughly when the top layer is dry to the touch.

How to Plant

Choose a spot in sun or partial shade with well-drained soil, adding compost for nutrients and grit if your soil is heavy. Space the violas about 15-20cm apart for a dense display, ensuring you plant them at the same depth they were in their pots to prevent rot. Firm the soil around each plant and finish by giving them a thorough watering to settle the roots.
