Product description

Viola Blue brings eye-catching seasonal colour to outdoor planting with distinctive blue flowers. These Viola plants are a versatile choice for hanging baskets, containers, borders and seasonal bedding, adding interest when many summer flowers have finished. Their compact growth makes them easy to combine with other seasonal planting, while the striking colour palette help them stand out in a mixed display.

Supplied as Violas ready to plant, Viola Blue is an easy way to introduce vibrancy to your seasonal planting without starting from seed. The flowers provide valuable interest through the cooler months, making this variety particularly useful for garden displays next to softer colour palettes. Plant in a sunny or partially shaded position with well-drained soil or compost, and water regularly while the plants establish before reducing attention once they are settled.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Instructions

Top Tip

Rotate hanging baskets occasionally so that the Viola receives a similar amount of light from all sides. This helps prevent the plant from leaning towards one direction and encourages a more evenly balanced display.

How to Water

Keep the soil consistently moist, particularly while Violas are establishing and during dry or windy weather. Check containers and hanging baskets regularly, as they can dry out more quickly than plants growing in the ground, and water when the surface of the compost begins to feel dry.

How to Plant

Plant Violas into moist, well-drained soil or fresh compost, positioning each plant so the top of the root ball sits level with the surrounding surface. Firm the compost or soil gently around the roots, then give the plants a good drink to settle them in and help them get established.
