Product description
Skimmia 'Kew Green' is a fantastic architectural evergreen shrub, grown for its magnificent floral display. This is a male variety, so it does not produce berries. Instead, its main feature is the huge, domed clusters of highly fragrant, greenish-white flowers that create a spectacular show. The prominent flower buds provide interest for many months before they open, making it a brilliant plant for year-round structure.
For the best performance and to maintain its deep green leaf colour, Skimmia 'Kew Green' must be planted in a position with partial to full shade. It thrives in moist but well-drained, humus-rich soil and requires acidic conditions to flourish. Pruning is seldom needed as this shrub naturally maintains a tidy, domed shape. If any light shaping is desired, it must be done immediately after the flowers have faded to avoid removing the following cycle's display.
Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
Garden Plant Size Guide

Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
Skimmia Kew Green are male plants, so they will not produce berries. Their job is to provide the pollen for female varieties. Plant one male for every few female Skimmias to guarantee a brilliant berry display on the female plants.
How to Water
Skimmia shrubs do not perform well if allowed to dry out completely, so consistent moisture is key. Water the Skimmia Kew Green regularly, especially during dry spells, to keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged.
How to Plant
For your Skimmia Kew Green to thrive, plant it in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil, ensuring the top of the root ball is level with or slightly above the surrounding ground. Water deeply and regularly during its first growing season to establish its roots, and apply a layer of mulch to help retain moisture.
