Product description

Rootgrow Tomato Starter biscuits are specifically designed to help your tomato plants establish a vigorous and healthy root system. They are made with the UK's native mycorrhizal fungi, beneficial micro-organisms with which tomato plants share a natural symbiotic relationship. Once the roots are in contact with the biscuit, the fungi colonise the root system, developing a highly-active secondary network. This has the explicit purpose of dramatically increasing the uptake of water and nutrients, which is vital for helping hungry tomato plants produce a bumper crop.

The number of biscuits required varies with your planting situation. For small pots up to 3L, use one biscuit. For larger containers, the guideline is one biscuit for every 4L of compost. When planting individual young plants, such as in grow bags or a vegetable patch, the rule is simpler: use one biscuit for each plant.

To apply the biscuits, direct contact with the roots is the most important step. Place the correct number of biscuits at the bottom of the planting hole, ensuring the plant's rootball sits directly on top of them. This single application creates a support network that lasts for the plant's entire growing season. This partnership helps your plants to establish faster and build resilience against stresses like irregular watering, leading to stronger, healthier growth and more abundant displays of flowers or fruit.
