Product description

Better known as Lily of the Valley, Pieris Polar Passion provides year-round garden colour. The mid-green leaves are edged in creamy white with a glossy texture. In March, panicles of dusky reddish-pink flowers emerge, lasting throughout spring. These lightly fragrant flowers are a magnet for pollinators and are a valuable source of nutrition for early bees and butterflies.

This bushy shrub is ideal for adding colour, height and structure to beds and borders. However, it also grows well in pots and containers and is perfect for brightening patios and other paved areas.

Pieris Polar Passion is a low-maintenance garden shrub that needs very little attention to thrive. It may need some additional winter protection until established but is otherwise undemanding. Mulch in spring, deadhead spent flowers, and water during particularly dry spells.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Instructions

Top Tip

Pieris thrives in acidic soil and partial shade, so avoid planting in full sun or alkaline soil for best results.

How to Water

Water Pieris plants regularly, keeping the soil moist but not waterlogged. During hot months, ensure the soil doesn't dry out, but avoid overwatering. Reduce watering once the plant is established.

How to Plant

Plant Pieris in well-drained, acidic soil with good organic matter. Choose a partially shaded spot and dig a hole twice the size of the root ball. Place the plant in the hole with the top of the root ball level with the surrounding soil and backfill with soil.
