Product description
Papaver Brilliant is a classic perennial Poppy, admired for its large, silky, orange red blooms that stand tall above fresh silvery-green foliage. Flowering in early summer, it brings bold colour and a strong architectural presence to borders and beds. Each bloom has a rich, velvety texture that catches the light beautifully, giving the plant a dramatic, cottage garden feel. Once established, it returns reliably each year, forming a striking clump that becomes a real highlight of the summer garden.
This variety thrives in full sun and well drained soil, settling in quickly when planted in a bright, sheltered position. Water regularly during dry spells in its first season, then sparingly once established, as Poppies prefer not to sit in wet ground. Remove faded blooms to keep the plant looking tidy and encourage further flowering. A light mulch in autumn helps protect the crown and encourages strong growth the following spring.
Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
Garden Plant Size Guide

Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
Leave the decorative seed heads on Papaver plants after flowering, as they add striking structure to the garden and provide valuable food and shelter for wildlife. Allowing them to remain through autumn and winter also enhances the plant’s natural architectural appeal.
How to Water
Water Papaver sparingly, as it prefers soil that drains well and doesn’t stay wet for long periods. Once established, it only needs occasional watering during prolonged dry spells.
How to Plant
Plant Papaver in a sunny, sheltered position with well‑drained soil, setting it at the same depth it was growing in the pot. Firm the soil gently around the roots to help them establish securely.
