Muhlenbergia capillaris, or Muhly Grass, is a stunning ornamental perennial that brings soft movement and late season colour to the garden. Its fine, evergreen foliage forms a tidy mound through summer before erupting into airy pink plumes that glow beautifully in autumn light. Perfect for adding texture and gentle height, it works effortlessly in borders, gravel gardens, plant beds, and modern planting schemes.
Thriving in full sun and well drained soil, this dependable grass offers year round structure with very little fuss. It performs beautifully in containers too, making it a lovely choice for patios and outdoor potted displays. Once established, it’s drought tolerant and long lived, returning each year with its signature cloud like blooms and graceful evergreen presence.

Established Muhly Grass prefers light, occasional watering, especially during warm, dry spells. Allow the soil to dry between drinks to keep the plant healthy and its evergreen foliage looking its best.
How to Plant
Plant Muhly Grass in a sunny position with free‑draining soil, spacing them 40-60cm apart, leaving room to develop its natural, airy shape. Set the plant at the same depth as it was in the pot and firm the soil gently around the base.
