Product description

Loropetalum Black Pearl patio trees are semi evergreen shrubs with leathery, dark purple and brown leaves which grow on spreading branches. In late winter, uniquely shaped, fringed flowers begin to bloom in shades of vibrant reddish pink.

These trees are great for adding to a garden border or bed to add colour throughout the year, although they would also look great in a plant pot at gates or entryways, or as front door plants. The hardiness and versatility make Loropetalum the perfect patio tree for so many gardens.

Please Note: Images are for illustrative purposes only and designed to be a representation of the item(s) being sold. Depending on seasonality, deciduous plants may be supplied in their dormant state and without leaves. Plants may also be pruned back, lower than stated heights, to encourage new growth.

How to Plant

To plant Loropetalum, choose a sunny or partially shaded spot with well-draining, acidic soil. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and slightly shallower than its depth. Place the plant in the hole so the crown sits just above soil level. Backfill with soil, firm gently, and water thoroughly to settle the roots. Spread a layer of mulch around the base, keeping it away from the stem, to conserve moisture and suppress weeds. If planting in colder regions, consider a sheltered location to protect from harsh winter winds.
