Product description

Leucanthemum LaSpider is a compact Shasta Daisy with an unusual take on the classic flower, producing double white blooms with finely fringed petals around golden centres. The flowers have plenty of detail without losing the familiar daisy shape, while the neat habit makes the plant easy to fit into borders and containers. Flowering through summer, it brings a fresh white display that works particularly well where a more distinctive flower is wanted.

Particularly useful in smaller planting spaces, Laspider sits neatly towards the front of a border or brings extra interest to a patio pot. The unusual blooms are also well suited to cutting, and their open centres provide a useful source of nectar for bees and other pollinating insects. Its tidy size and distinctive flowers make it an easy variety to slot into an existing planting scheme, whether used on its own or alongside other summer perennials.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Instructions

Top Tip

Cut some flowers for the vase while the outer petals are still fresh and the centres have only just opened. Shasta Daisy makes a useful cut flower, and removing a few stems for indoors also means less deadheading to do later.

How to Water

Shasta Daisy needs regular watering while it settles into its new position, particularly during warm weather. Once established, it copes well with short dry spells, but give it a thorough soak if the soil becomes dry for an extended period, especially while it is flowering.

How to Plant

Work some compost or well-rotted organic matter into the planting area before planting, particularly if the soil is poor or lacking in nutrients. Allow around 40-45cm between Shasta Daisy plants, then set each one at the same depth as it was growing in its pot, firm the soil gently around the roots, and water thoroughly.
