Siberian Irises are robust and adaptable, but they perform best in rich, slightly acidic soil that retains moisture without becoming boggy. How to Water
Water Irises deeply when the top inch of soil feels dry. Target the base to keep foliage dry and prevent rot. While Siberian types like moisture, Bearded Irises need sharp drainage; never let their rhizomes sit in standing water.
How to Plant
Place these Siberian irises in heavy, moisture-retentive earth, setting the rhizomes about one to two inches below the soil surface. They look and perform best when planted in sweeping drifts or groups of three to five, spaced about a foot apart to allow the clumps room to expand.
