Product description
Rosemary 'Salem' is a popular perennial herb, famously prized for its vigorous, upright growth and good hardiness. The primary part used for its culinary value is its aromatic, needle-like leaves, which provide a classic, robust, and piney rosemary flavour essential for seasoning roasted meats, vegetables, and breads. However, its edibility doesn't stop there; the attractive, small blue flowers that bloom on the plant are also edible and make a beautiful, fragrant garnish.
When it comes to planting and maintenance, this is an easy-to-grow, evergreen shrub, but it has very specific, non-negotiable requirements. It is extremely fussy about its light conditions and absolutely must have a location in full, direct sun to thrive. The main requirement for it to grow well is providing it with soil that is exceptionally well-drained, as it strongly dislikes "wet feet" and is very drought-tolerant once established. As an added benefit to the garden, its attractive blue flowers are known to be a major favourite of bees.

Garden Plant Size Guide

Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
Rosemary 'Salem' is the most tolerant of all rosemaries to shaping, making it the top choice for creating aromatic topiary balls or cones in pots. Regular clipping actually extends the lifespan of this variety by preventing the centre from splitting open under the weight of old wood.
How to Water
Rosemary 'Salem' prefers dry roots, so water only when the soil is completely dry several inches down. Good drainage is critical, as overwatering is the fastest way to kill this Mediterranean shrub.
How to Plant
Plant the upright Rosemary 'Salem' in full sun with excellent drainage, spacing plants close together if creating a hedge. Ensure the soil is not too rich or wet, as this can cause leggy growth and root rot.
