Product description

Hemerocallis 'Gold', commonly known as the Daylily, is a charming perennial that adds a touch of sunshine to gardens with its vibrant yellow-gold flowers. The arching, narrow, strap-like green leaves form a neat clump, making it an excellent choice for borders, beds, and containers. Its consistent summer blooming period ensures a lively display in outdoor spaces.

This Daylily thrives in fertile, moist but well-drained soil and prefers full sun, though it can tolerate partial shade. It is adaptable to heavy clay and poorer soils, making it suitable for various garden settings. Blooming consistently during the summer months until the first frost, it complements other summer-flowering plants, enhancing the seasonal palette. This hardy perennial is also drought-tolerant once established, making it a low-maintenance addition to various garden settings.

Ideal for gardeners seeking long-lasting summer colour, Hemerocallis 'Gold' can be grown in patio pots or directly in garden beds. The vibrant yellow-gold flowers are not only visually appealing but also attract pollinators, supporting local biodiversity. Additionally, the blooms make excellent cut flowers, allowing you to bring their beauty indoors.

Instructions

Top Tip

Hemerocallis with darker flowers hold their vibrant colours best when they can enjoy some light afternoon shade. Avoid planting in full shade, but position the plants so that full sun doesn’t bleach the flowers all day long.

How to Water

Water Hemerocallis thoroughly after planting and regularly during the growing season. Aim to keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged as they don’t like soggy roots. Once established, Hemerocallis are generally drought tolerant, however, you may notice fewer flowers in dry soil.

How to Plant

For the best show of flowers, plant Hemerocallis in full sun or partial shade in moist but well-draining soil. Backfill the hole ensuring the crown is level with the soil surface and gently firm down.
