Product description

Helenium, commonly known as Sneezeweed, is a clump-forming perennial that brings vibrant yellow hues to gardens from summer through autumn. Its lance-shaped green foliage provides a lush backdrop to the daisy-like flowers, making it a standout choice for borders, beds, and wildlife gardens.

Thriving in moist but well-drained soil under full sun, Helenium is well-suited for UK gardens. Blooming from summer into autumn, it complements other late-flowering perennials, enhancing the seasonal palette. This hardy perennial is also beneficial for pollinators, attracting bees and other insects.

Ideal for gardeners seeking prolonged seasonal colour, Helenium can be grown in various garden settings, including cottage and informal gardens. The vibrant yellow flowers are not only visually appealing but also make excellent cut flowers, allowing you to bring their sunny disposition indoors.

Instructions

Top Tip

Deadhead spent flowers to encourage more blooms and divide clumps every 2-3 years to maintain vigor and prevent overcrowding.

How to Water

Water regularly, especially during dry spells, to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely, as Helenium prefers moist conditions.

How to Plant

Plant Helenium in fertile, well-draining soil enriched with organic matter in a location that gets full sun. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball, place the plant, and fill with soil. Space plants 45-60cm apart for airflow. Mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
