Beyond providing heavy crops of sweet, slip-skin fruits, it delivers a massive secondary show when its large, lobed foliage turns a breathtaking, fiery crimson red in the autumn. It is incredibly cold-tolerant and vigorous.
To care for 'Zilga', plant it in a highly visible location where you can appreciate both the summer fruit and the autumn colour explosion. It thrives in almost any well-drained soil and requires a sunny position to fully ripen the blue grapes. Guide its rapid growth horizontally along sturdy wires, and perform your structural pruning in the dead of winter before the sap begins to rise to avoid "bleeding."

How to Water
To water Vitis Zilga, soak deeply every ten days in year one to drive roots down. Once mature, let the soil dry out, but maintain moisture when its blue dessert grapes swell. Always water the soil, not the leaves.
How to Plant
To plant Vitis Zilga, dig a hole twice as wide as the rootball but exactly the same depth. Incorporate plenty of horticultural grit into the excavated soil to guarantee the rapid drainage this vine demands. Position the plant so the top of the rootball is flush with the soil surface. Backfill firmly, lead the robust vines toward your designated framework, and water deeply to eliminate underground air pockets.
