Product description
This is the iconic, deep-rooted wine grape famous for producing high-quality, complex, and aromatic white wines. It is a vigorous, historic vine that adapts exceptionally well to various soil types, particularly thriving on poor, chalky, or stony ground where other plants might struggle.
To care for 'Riesling', prioritise flawless drainage above all else; it absolutely despises wet, heavy clay. Give it full sun exposure. To get the best flavour, allow the soil to dry out slightly late in the season; this mild water stress forces the vine to concentrate the sugars in the fruit. Prune aggressively during its deep winter dormancy to control its size and maximise your yield.
Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
Garden Plant Size Guide

Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
The Vitis Riesling is a classic wine grape. Allow the soil to dry out slightly as harvest time approaches; this mild water stress forces the vine to concentrate the sugars and complex flavors in the fruit.
How to Water
To water Vitis Riesling, soak deeply every ten days in year one to drive roots down. Once mature, let the soil dry out, but maintain moisture when its wine grapes swell. Always water the soil, not the leaves.
How to Plant
To plant Vitis Riesling, dig a hole twice as wide as the rootball but exactly the same depth. Incorporate plenty of horticultural grit into the excavated soil to guarantee the rapid drainage this vine demands. Position the plant so the top of the rootball is flush with the soil surface. Backfill firmly, arrange the flexible stems near your training wires, and water deeply to eliminate underground air pockets.
