Garden Plant Size Guide

Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
Give Avens a light trim after flowering to keep the plant compact and encourage a tidy flush of new foliage.
How to Water
Geum benefits from steady moisture while it’s getting established, so water it well after planting and keep the soil lightly damp for the first few weeks. Once the roots have settled, it only needs watering during dry spells, allowing the top layer of soil to dry slightly between each soak to prevent it becoming overly wet.
How to Plant
Plant Geum in full sun or partial shade in well‑drained soil, digging a hole just wider than the rootball and setting the crown level with the soil surface. Backfill, firm gently, and water thoroughly to settle the roots and remove any air pockets.
