Product description

Boasting mid green toothed foliage from spring and vivid orange flowers from midsummer, Dahlia Dalina Maxi Apricot is a striking flowering perennial that suits almost any outdoor space. These eye-catching Dahlia plants really come into their own in July when the stunning pompon flowers start to emerge. Reaching an eventual height of up to 50cm, these stunning flowers bloom all the way through to autumn and are a magnet for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.

Grow Dahlias in flower beds, borders, or pots in a sheltered, sunny spot in moist but well-draining soil. Water regularly during particularly dry spells and deadhead spent blooms to encourage more flowers to appear. Dahlia plants need to be cut back to ground level in autumn. For the best show of flowers the following year, lift the Dahlia tubers from the ground and store them away over winter, ready to be planted again in spring.

Please Note: Images are for illustrative purposes only and designed to be a representation of the item(s) being sold. Depending on seasonality, deciduous plants may be supplied in their dormant state and without leaves. Plants may also be pruned back, lower than stated heights, to encourage new growth. This plant will be supplied in a growers pot.

Instructions

Top Tip

Deadhead spent blooms to channel the plant’s energy into producing flowers rather than seeds. Doing this results in an extended flowering period and keeps the plant looking its best.

How to Water

Water Dahlias thoroughly after planting then regularly during the growing season, particularly during hot, dry spells. Ensure the soil drains freely and avoid overwatering, aiming to keep the soil evenly moist.

How to Plant

Wait until the risk of frost has passed, choose a sheltered spot, and plant Dahlias in full sun in moist but well-draining soil. Leave around 60cm between plants and backfill the soil to the same level as it was in the pot.
