Product description

Coreopsis grandiflora 'Solar Jewel', commonly known as Tickseed, is a vibrant herbaceous perennial that brings a splash of colour to gardens with its bright red flowers edged in yellow-orange. This compact, bushy plant reaches up to 50 cm in height and spreads approximately 45 cm, making it ideal for borders, beds, and containers. Blooming profusely from June to October, 'Solar Jewel' provides extended seasonal interest and is a favourite among pollinators, supporting local biodiversity.

Thriving in well-drained soil under full sun, this hardy perennial is both heat and drought-tolerant, making it a resilient choice for various garden settings. Its low-maintenance nature requires minimal care; regular deadheading of spent blooms will encourage continuous flowering throughout the season. 'Solar Jewel' is also noted for its disease-resistant foliage, ensuring a healthy and long-lasting display.

Ideal for gardeners seeking to add bold, long-lasting colour to their outdoor spaces, Coreopsis 'Solar Jewel' integrates seamlessly into cottage gardens, wildlife gardens, and contemporary landscapes alike. Its striking blooms also make excellent cut flowers, allowing you to bring a touch of summer indoors.

Deadhead spent blooms regularly to encourage further flowering.

How to Water

Water regularly to keep the soil consistently moist but not saturated.

How to Plant

Wait until the risk of frost has passed and plant coreopsis in full sun or partial shade in moist but well-draining soil. Enrich the soil with well-rotted organic matter and dig a hole around twice as wide as the root ball. Position the plant so the top of the root ball is at soil level then backfill with soil and compost, gently firm down, and water in well. Leave 40-50cm between plants.
