Product description

Coreopsis Grandiflora is a rugged, mid-level perennial that secures a dominant block of solid golden-yellow colour, completely transforming dry, sun-drenched borders. It pushes its bright blooms high above the foliage on sturdy stems, creating fantastic movement in the breeze, serving as excellent cut flowers, and acting as a highly reliable, heavy-duty feeding station for hoverflies and bees.

Inherently wired to survive brutal prairie conditions, it is the perfect candidate for thin, sandy topsoil where delicate plants fail, provided it receives full, unobstructed sun. Rely almost entirely on natural rainfall once established, and cut the entire structure back by half in mid-season to prevent it from becoming a leggy, sprawling eyesore. Plan to dig up and divide the clumping base every two to three years to maintain vigour and prevent sudden die-off.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Instructions

Top Tip

Cutting the entire structure of Coreopsis Grandiflora back by half midway through its flowering period will prevent it from becoming a leggy eyesore. This severe pruning forces the plant to push out a fresh, tight flush of foliage and a highly vibrant late-season bloom. Plan to dig up and divide the clump every two to three years to maintain vigour and prevent sudden die-off.

How to Water

Provide a slow, gentle drenching directly over the root zone the moment Coreopsis Grandiflora goes into the ground. Once established, rely almost entirely on natural rainfall, as this perennial is genetically wired to handle incredibly dry conditions. Only intervene with a hose if the lush green leaves begin to visibly droop and dehydrate.

How to Plant

Dig a wide pocket in the brightest, sunniest part of your garden to accommodate the bushy clumping habit of Coreopsis Grandiflora. Ensure the soil is loose and sandy, as it despises heavy earth that holds onto dormant-season wetness. Tamp the ground down securely to give the tall stems a solid structural foundation.
