Product description
Grown as an elegant standard, the Buddleia 'Little Purple' is a compact variety from the Butterfly Candy series, making it perfectly suited for patios and smaller gardens. Its long flowering season, which spans from mid-summer often until the first frosts, guarantees a continuous show of rich, deep purple flower spikes. These tapered blooms are comprised of hundreds of tiny, fragrant florets, each with a minuscule orange eye that acts as a powerful nectar guide for a host of pollinators, especially butterflies.
To complement your 'Little Purple' patio tree and create a more complete look, consider planting other species around the base of its stem. The most important rule is to choose companions that share its preference for full sun and soil that drains well, ensuring all plants in the container are happy. For a sophisticated pairing, consider planting Lamb's Ear at its feet. Its soft, silvery-white, felted leaves will echo the tones of the Buddleja's own foliage, creating a harmonious and textural display that allows the deep purple flowers to truly stand out.
Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Top Tip
Don't be afraid to prune the 'head' of the tree back hard in early spring. This is the secret to a spectacular display of large flower spikes each summer.
How to Water
Water regularly during summer, especially in dry spells. Reduce watering significantly in winter, allowing the soil to stay on the drier side. Prune the entire 'head' or canopy back hard to a short framework in early spring (March). This is the most important task for a good display. A single feed with a high-potash fertiliser (like tomato feed) in mid-summer is sufficient.
How to Plant
Choose a location in full sun with well-drained soil. Dig a hole twice the width of the pot. Add horticultural grit to the bottom of the hole and mix some with the backfill soil. Place the tree in the hole so the top of its rootball is level with the soil surface. Backfill with the soil/grit mix, firm in gently, and water thoroughly.
