Product description

Briza Tinkerbell is a highly compact, dwarf variation of quaking grass that provides all the sensory movement of larger varieties while staying neatly contained at the very front of the border. It features gorgeous greenish-white spikelets that hover on fine, wiry stems above a low-growing tuft of bright green foliage. It is a perfect structural edging plant that beautifully softens harsh paving stones and pathways.

To get the best out of this miniature grass, tuck it into a sun-drenched spot heavily amended with sharp drainage material like sand or gravel. It is highly self-sufficient and actively prefers to be kept on the drier side, as overwatering will quickly lead to floppy, undisciplined growth and potential crown rot. Maintenance is incredibly simple: just run your hands through the semi-evergreen foliage when the weather warms up to clear out the old winter straw.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Instructions

Top Tip

A fantastic trick for Briza Tinkerbell is to plant it in tight, meandering drifts rather than isolated single spots. Grouping these dwarf plants together amplifies the rustling sound the delicate spikelets make in the breeze, creating a wonderful sensory experience. Comb out the dead foliage regularly to maintain a pristine, bright green appearance.

How to Water

Give Briza Tinkerbell a gentle, slow soaking right after planting so the water penetrates without washing away the topsoil. Once it takes hold, this tufted grass is highly self-sufficient and prefers to be kept on the drier side. Step away with the hose, as overwatering will quickly lead to floppy growth and potential crown rot.

How to Plant

Tuck Briza Tinkerbell into the front of a sunny border where its dwarf, compact habit can be easily admired. Ensure the planting pocket is amended with plenty of sharp drainage material like sand or gravel. Firm the soil gently around the roots to keep its neat, grassy base perfectly level with the surrounding earth.
