Product description
The Begonia Mocca series is bred entirely for maximum, moody drama. These tuberous perennials are defined by their incredible, dark chocolate-bronze leaves, which provide a striking, high-contrast backdrop for their vibrant, neon double blooms. Because they focus all their energy into producing these heavy, visually explosive flowers and thick foliage, they offer zero fragrance and no food for pollinators, but they completely steal the show in any shaded display.
To get the best out of the Mocca series, you must place your baskets in partial or dappled shade, as harsh midday sun will quickly scorch their spectacular dark leaves. They require a rich, slightly acidic loam compost that drains freely, as their fleshy underground tubers are highly susceptible to rotting if left sitting in cold, heavy mud. Always let the top inch of dirt dry out completely before watering, and apply a high-potash liquid fertiliser weekly once the buds appear to fuel their massive floral output.
Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
Garden Plant Size Guide

Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
To get the absolute best visual impact from your Begonia Mocca series, hang the basket at eye level or slightly lower. Because the massive double blooms are exceptionally heavy and nod downwards, hanging it too high means you will only see the undersides of the flowers. This simple placement trick ensures you actually get to enjoy the striking contrast of neon petals against chocolate-bronze leaves.
How to Water
It is absolutely critical that you let the top inch of compost dry out before you give the Begonia Mocca series a drink. When you do water, apply it directly to the soil and avoid splashing those dark, fleshy leaves to prevent fungal diseases. Overwatering is the fastest way to rot the underground tuber, so always err on the side of underwatering rather than flooding it.
How to Plant
When potting up the Begonia Mocca series, use a rich, slightly acidic loam compost and position the basket in partial shade to protect its foliage from scorching. Plant the tubers close to the surface, ensuring the slightly indented side is facing upwards. Do not pack the dirt too tightly, as the delicate roots need room to breathe and expand without sitting in heavy muck.
