Product description
Sweet Pea Blue Velvet offers deep, maritime violet-blue flowers that bring incredible visual depth and intense fragrance to vertical patio displays. Scrambling aggressively via its modified leaf tendrils, this hardy annual creates a dense wall of deep green foliage topped by richly coloured, velvety blossoms. It is a showstopping variety that pairs perfectly with pale pink or pure white climbing partners.
To sustain its rich colouration, position Blue Velvet in full sun and plant it in a fertile, loamy soil that leans toward the alkaline side of the pH scale. Keep the root zone highly hydrated with deep daily watering, ensuring the liquid fully saturates the bottom half of your planter. If you notice the lowest leaves turning yellow, provide a bit of shade to the base of the pot to cool the root system while leaving the upper vines in the sun.
Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
Garden Plant Size Guide

Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
If Sweet Pea Blue Velvet starts to look yellow at the base, it's likely a sign of heat stress. Shading the roots with a lower pot while keeping the top in the sun can help solve this.
How to Water
To maintain the lush green foliage of Sweet Pea Blue Velvet, keep the soil consistently damp. It is a "heavy drinker" that will respond poorly to dry, parched conditions. Water deeply to ensure the moisture reaches the bottom of the container.
How to Plant
Set Sweet Pea Blue Velvet in a full sun aspect to develop its intense, maritime violet-blue colour. It requires a rich, moisture-holding soil and a tall support to reach its full 2-metre potential. Space the plants evenly to ensure good airflow between the vines.
