Product description

Trailing aggressively over the edges of a pot, the Verbena Lavender is a mat-forming hybrid that provides a brilliant, soft-coloured landing pad for flying insects. It has no discernible scent to humans, but its flat floral clusters are highly attractive and easily accessible to passing bees and butterflies. It is a fantastic, non-hardy performer that requires full sun to keep its trailing stems tight and densely packed.

This incredibly thirsty plant requires a highly consistent, 'normal' level of moisture to sustain its massive flush of blooms. Give the container a generous, deep watering the exact moment the top soil feels dry to the touch, making sure the main root ball never completely dries out. Maintaining this spongy moisture level ensures the plant continues to produce nectar-rich flowers until the cold weather arrives.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Instructions

Top Tip

When managing the overall look of the basket, try to leave the flat flower clusters intact for as long as possible. These specific blooms act as perfect, nectar-rich landing pads for passing wildlife. Allowing them to linger transforms your Verbena Lavender into an absolute magnet for local bees and butterflies.

How to Water

These spreaders need consistent, moderate moisture to maintain their aggressive growth rates. Reach for the watering can the moment the surface of the compost loses its damp, spongy texture. Providing this reliable drink keeps the Verbena Lavender actively growing without drowning the delicate root hairs.

How to Plant

Space the root plugs carefully around the perimeter of the pot into a rich loam compost. Make sure you gently spread the roots out in the hole to help them establish quickly. Planting along the edges gives the Verbena Lavender plenty of clear space to spill its mat-forming runners downward.
