It is a completely non-hardy plant that requires an acidic soil environment to prevent its foliage from turning a sickly yellow. Because of the deep, tubular shape of its trumpet flowers, it unfortunately provides zero nectar value to the native UK bee population.
For optimal growth and continuous blooming, this incredibly thirsty trailer requires 'normal' soil moisture conditions. Check the hanging basket daily and water it deeply as soon as the top surface of the compost feels dry to the touch. The goal is to keep the root zone consistently moist and spongy, ensuring the fast-growing vines never wilt, while actively avoiding waterlogging the base of the pot.
