Product description
Astrantia, commonly known as Masterwort, is a charming perennial that adds a touch of elegance to gardens with its intricate, star-like flowers. The blooms, surrounded by showy bracts, rise above mounds of deeply lobed, green foliage, making it an excellent choice for borders, beds, and woodland gardens. Its unique floral structure and prolonged blooming period provide continuous interest throughout the summer months.
Thriving in moist, humus-rich soil under partial shade, Astrantia is well-suited for UK gardens. Blooming from June through September, it complements other shade-loving plants, enhancing the garden's palette. This hardy perennial is also relatively low-maintenance once established, making it a valuable addition to various garden settings.
Ideal for gardeners seeking long-lasting summer colour, Astrantia can be grown in patio pots or directly in garden beds. The delicate flowers are not only visually appealing but also attract pollinators, supporting local biodiversity. Additionally, the blooms make excellent cut flowers, allowing you to bring their beauty indoors.

Garden Plant Size Guide
Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

How to Plant
Dig in plenty of garden compost and plant in spring or autumn in rich, moist but well-draining soil. Astrantia grows well in full sun or partial shade but prefers a little shelter from strong afternoon sun. Create a hole slightly wider than the root ball and position the plant before backfilling, firming gently as you go. Water in well after planting.
