Product description

Armeria Ballerina Red brings a fantastic, deep brick-red colouration to the typically pink and white world of thrifts. The dark, saturated globes hover elegantly over the tidy needle-like leaves, providing a spectacular, high-contrast display when planted against pale gravel or light paving stones.

Bury the roots firmly in well-drained, chalky or sandy earth, leaving the evergreen foliage completely clear of the soil line. Withhold supplemental water entirely to force the deep taproot to seek out its own moisture, ensuring a compact, incredibly resilient plant that will not flop over.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Instructions

Top Tip

Maximise the visual impact of Armeria Ballerina Red by planting it in tight groupings of three or five to create a larger visual drift. Because each individual plant is quite compact, a solitary cushion can easily get lost in a large border. Mass planting guarantees the dark red flowers make a significant, unmissable statement.

How to Water

Provide a deep, initial drenching to secure Armeria Ballerina Red into its new rocky home. Let the surrounding dirt dry out completely and thoroughly before you even consider offering it another drink. Its specialised taproot is expertly designed to seek out hidden moisture deep underground without your help.

How to Plant

Showcase the deep brick-red globes of Armeria Ballerina Red by planting it against pale gravel or light-coloured paving stones. Excavate a small hole in the poorest soil you have, as rich compost will make it floppy. Firm the earth down tight around the roots, leaving the evergreen needle-like leaves completely exposed to the air.
