Top Tip
To keep your Araucaria tree healthy and vibrant, avoid pruning unless necessary, as they naturally develop an attractive shape. Remove any dead or damaged branches to maintain its structure and encourage healthy growth. Protect young trees from harsh winds with temporary staking, and fertilise in spring with a slow-release, balanced fertiliser to support growth and resilience.
How to Water
Water Araucaria trees deeply immediately after planting and regularly during the first year to help establish their roots. Once established, they are drought-tolerant and require less frequent watering, only during prolonged dry periods. Avoid waterlogging the soil, as this can damage the roots. Water in the early morning or evening to minimise evaporation and ensure the soil absorbs the moisture effectively.
How to Plant
To plant an Araucaria tree, choose a sunny spot with well-draining, slightly acidic soil. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and deep enough to position the tree at the same depth as it was in its container. Gently loosen the roots before placing the tree in the hole. Backfill with soil, firm it down to remove air pockets, and water thoroughly. Add a layer of mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds, keeping it a few centimetres away from the trunk to prevent rot.
