Product description

Injecting unexpected, vibrant warmth into the dimmer, shaded areas of the landscape, this unique and highly eye-catching cultivar displays a brilliant bi-colour combination of bright coral-pink and pale yellow. The brightly coloured, distinctly spurred bells provide a stark, highly visible contrast against the dark, earthy, mossy tones of typical shade gardens. It is a relatively rare colourway in this plant family, making it an excellent choice for a specialised collector's border.

To keep the central crown healthy and free from fungal issues, periodically pull away any decaying, yellowed, or collapsed foliage at the very bottom of the mound to drastically improve air circulation around the base of the plant. Avoid using heavy overhead sprinklers, as the delicate, nodding flowers will become weighed down and damaged by the heavy droplets. As the first signs of new green growth emerge from the soil in early spring, apply a very light, balanced organic fertiliser around the perimeter of the clump to fuel the upcoming floral display.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Instructions

Top Tip

Combine this coral-pink variety with contrasting blue or purple woodland plants for a vibrant display. The bright bi-color blooms of the Aquilegia Koralle act as a brilliant focal point in darker, shaded corners of the garden. Removing the oldest leaves at the base improves air circulation and plant health.

How to Water

Deliver water slowly and deeply to encourage the roots to grow downward rather than skimming the surface. Avoid watering in the heat of the day to prevent rapid evaporation. Keeping the soil cool and damp perfectly suits the Aquilegia Koralle.

How to Plant

Amend the planting area with well-rotted manure to provide a slow-release nutrient base. Position the Aquilegia Koralle carefully so the soil level exactly matches its previous depth in the pot. Smooth the earth around the base and apply a thin layer of organic mulch.
