Product description

This Acer Taylor Patio Tree is an eye-catching Japanese Maple trained into lollipop stem shape, creating a stylish focal point in any outdoor space. Its delicate, variegated foliage emerges with soft pink tones before developing into a beautiful mix of green, cream, and blush shades throughout the growing season. This compact Acer is perfect for adding height and interest to patios, borders, and smaller outdoor spaces, while its elegant shape makes it a real feature plant.

Like most Japanese Maples, Acer Taylor prefers a sheltered position away from strong winds and harsh midday sun, which can scorch its delicate leaves. Keep the soil consistently moist, particularly during dry spells and when grown in containers, and use a well-draining compost to encourage healthy growth. Light pruning can be carried out to maintain its attractive lollipop shape but avoid heavy trimming as this can spoil the natural form of the tree.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Instructions

Top Tip

Rotate container-grown Japanese Maple trees occasionally throughout the growing season to encourage balanced growth and prevent the canopy from leaning towards the light. This is particularly useful for a lollipop-form tree, helping it maintain an even, attractive shape while ensuring all sides receive a similar amount of light.

How to Water

Water Japanese Maple regularly during the growing season, especially during warm, dry periods or when grown in a container. Keep the compost or soil evenly moist, but avoid overwatering as Acer roots do not like sitting in waterlogged conditions.

How to Plant

Plant Acer Taylor in a sheltered position with well-drained soil, digging a hole slightly larger than the root ball before placing the tree at the same depth as it was growing in its pot. Backfill with soil, firm gently, and water thoroughly after planting to help the roots establish. If planting in a new container, choose a pot with good drainage and use a quality compost suitable for Japanese Maple plants. Ensure the container is large enough to support healthy root growth and maintain the tree’s elegant lollipop shape.
