SEASONAL AVAILABILITY: Bare Root plants are supplied from late November until Spring the following year.

CHARACTERISTICS: Norway Spruce trees are widely recognised as one of the most popular varieties of Christmas tree. They are coniferous evergreen trees with dense, deep green foliage and cones which hang gracefully from the branches.

HEIGHT AND SPREAD: Supplied in a dormant state, these outdoor shrubs can reach a huge height of approximately 20 metres without pruning. Once established, they can grow at a rate of around 3 feet per year and can be easily pruned to maintain a size and shape appropriate for hedging.

PLANTING TIPS: Bare-Root hedging is typically planted in a double staggered row of 5 plants per metre. Evergreen plants are generally planted to less density than deciduous plants, such is the nature of their dense foliage.

Picea Abies, commonly known as Norway Spruce, are a variety of outdoor trees which can be recognised all over the world as one of the most popular choices of Christmas tree. However, these trees are perfect for growing as hedging plants too. Deep green, evergreen foliage grows densely and remains all year, accompanied by relatively large cones hanging delicately from the branches.

These trees grow in a conical shape, and the dense foliage is perfect for creating a windbreak in the garden. They are relatively easy to grow in full sun to partial shade and in slightly acidic soil. They are hardy and can survive very cold winters, and once established they won’t even require regular watering.
