Fuchsia Hawkshead is a very hardy Fuchsia variety that produces showy pure white flowers from spring, through summer and into autumn. This clump-forming deciduous bushy shrub is different from its cousins that can be grown in hanging baskets. Hawkshead is a low maintenance plant that provides long-lasting flowering interest. It is hardier than other Fuchsia and can withstand extreme winter and frost easily.

Hawkshead blooms beautiful bell-shaped white flowers decorated with green tips and pure white corollas. The flowers appear as if hanging or dripping from the stems. The flowers contrast against dark green leafy stems from July until the first frost. Hawkshead will lose its foliage and flowers in winter but only to grow back once again, fresh and bright in spring.

Fuchsia are easy to grow shrubs that will thrive in any soil that is moderately fertile and well-drained. Their flowers are more abundant and brighter in full sun although the plant will do simply well even in partial shady spots. Provide a sheltered spot for planting with a layer of organic mulch for protection in winter.

Frequent water the plants in dry periods or on strong sunny days. Pruning Fuchsia will encourage bushy growth, simply pinch out tips on the growing young plants. Although Hawkshead is very hardy, one can move the plants in containers indoors and shift outside later in spring.

Gardeners popularly use Fuchsia as a single specimen plant that looks good with Hydrangeas. Plant it in a large container for a lovely addition to a patio, where hummingbirds will be attracted.
