This Euonymus Harlequin patio tree is semi-evergreen and trained into a single stem. With its classic lollipop shape, these are the perfect little trees to sit solitary in small gardens, patios, borders or mixed containers.
A Euonymus Harlequin patio tree can reach an optimum height of 200cm and spread of up to 150cm over a 10-20 year period.
The attractive shape of this Harlequin cultivar makes it an ideal patio tree. Only light pruning is needed to maintain the tree’s neat size and shape. These low-maintenance trees are perfect for beginners and are striking outdoor plants all year round.
As with all outdoor trees in pots, this patio tree requires regular watering during spells of dry weather. Be sure not to over-hydrate, but make sure the tree doesn't dry out. Plant it in moderately fertile, moist, well-draining soil.
This Euonymus Harlequin patio tree is valued for its leathery semi-evergreen foliage. The leaves are almost pure white when they emerge in spring, developing speckles of cream and green as they mature. In winter, the foliage takes on an attractive pink tinge, providing colour interest during the greyest months of the year and making Euonymus Harlequin excellent all year round plants for garden design.
Euonymus Harlequin – also known as spindle tree - grows well in pots and containers and is perfect for brightening up patios, driveways and terraces, as well as flanking entrances. The timeless lollipop stem shape allows the foliage to shine, creating an attractive focal point.
Euonymus is often grown as evergreen shrubs in a garden border. However, trained into a patio tree shape, it makes an excellent addition to any garden. Patio trees provide height and structure to an outdoor space, enhancing garden design and decorating areas of paving or decking.
This Harlequin cultivar features a tall single stem trunk with a mound of foliage at the top. The leathery oval-to-oblong leaves are in variegated shades of green and cream, and flushed pink in autumn and winter.
This is a hardy patio tree, however, you may wish to provide additional insulation around the plant pot to protect the roots against winter frost damage. Euonymus Harlequin thrives in moist, well-draining soil and is happy in most soil types. Like all plants, pot-grown specimens do need to be watered more frequently. Position the tree in partial shade or full sun to bring out the colour of the leaves.
