Cytisus Golden Tears is a beautiful ornamental tree with an upright growing habit and weeping branches. This deciduous specimen is trained into a single stem and is the perfect little tree to sit solitary in small gardens, patios, borders, or mixed containers.
Left unpruned, Cytisus Golden Tears can reach an optimum height of up to 1.5m and spread of up to 1m over a 5-10 year period.
The attractive weeping shape of this Golden Tears variety makes it an ideal patio tree. Only light pruning is needed to maintain the tree’s neat size and shape.
As with all outdoor plants grown in pots, this patio tree requires regular watering during spells of dry weather. Be sure not to over-hydrate, but make sure the tree doesn't dry out. Plant it in moderately fertile, well-draining soil.
This Cytisus Golden Tears patio tree is valued for the masses of small yellow flowers that last through late spring and early summer.
Cytisus Golden Tears grows well in pots and containers and is perfect for brightening up patios, driveways, and terraces, as well as flanking entrances.
Also known as Broom, Cytisus is often grown as a garden shrub. However, trained into a patio tree shape, this weeping variety makes an excellent addition to any garden. Patio trees provide height and structure to an outdoor space, enhancing garden design and decorating areas of paving or decking.
This cultivar boasts small three-palmate, ovate leaves from spring to autumn. Throughout May and June the leaves are hidden by masses of small pea-like golden yellow flowers dripping from the branches. These nectar-rich blooms are a magnet for bees, butterflies and other pollinators.
This patio tree is hardy in the UK, but pot-grown specimens may need some additional insulation to protect the roots from frost damage in winter. Cytisus Golden Tears thrives in well-draining soil and is happy in most soil types. Like all plants, pot-grown specimens do need to be watered more frequently than those planted in the ground. This potted tree tolerates partial shade but flourishes best placed in full sun.
Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
