A garden filled with chirping birds, buzzing bees and fluttering butterflies is a delight to behold and the lovely Cotoneaster 'Rothschildianus' will help you to create this setting.

The Cotoneaster Tree is a semi-evergreen shrubby tree that keeps most of its leaves through the winter, adding colour to your garden when other plants are bare and dull. The leaves are long, oval-shaped and flushed with a bright blue-green hue.

In spring, the tree bursts forth with clusters of creamy-white small flowers. The flowers are followed by large pendants of creamy-yellow berries that attract a variety of wildlife, especially birds. The berries develop a pink tinge as the winter progresses. These fruits are long lasting and will remain on the tree well into the New Year.

Cotoneaster 'Rothschildianus' has an arching habit with branches that bend under the weight of the berries, creating an attractive feature in a small garden. They can also be planted as a dense screen at the back of a wide border and make an excellent cover to block out an unsightly wall or fence.

Your Cotoneaster is very hardy and can tolerate a range of soil types and conditions. It does however, do best in moist, well-drained soil. It can withstand very cold conditions, exposed regions and coastal sites, making it extremely versatile and a plant of choice for difficult gardens. Expect your tree to reach heights of 5m and a spread of 3m in a 20 year period.

Bring all-year round interest and wildlife into your garden with the Cotoneaster 'Rothschildianus'.
