• Characteristics: Deciduous shrub with an arching habit. In Spring, small purple flowers accompany its deep red-purple foliage that grows in clusters of incised lobes. The leaves' colour then changes to red and orange in Autumn.
• Growth and Spread: Ultimate height and spread of up to 2.5m.
• Care and Maintenance: Acers prefer partial shade, so avoid prolonged exposure to full sun. It will tolerate most soil types, as long as this remains well-drained and watered well.
• Period of Interest: Flowers appear in Spring. Its foliage is a deep red-purple colour in Spring and Summer, before red and orange shows in Autumn.

Acer palmatum Crimson Queen is a deciduous shrub that bears deep red-purple foliage in Spring, alongside small purple flowers. The leaves grow in clusters of incised lobes right through to Autumn, when they take on a red and orange tint. This plant has an arching habit, can be grown as a small tree and will go on to make a noticeable impact in your garden when it reaches its ultimate height and spread of 1.5m - 2.5m.

Acers can be cared for with relative ease. Plant in an area of partial shade and aim to avoid long periods of exposure to full sunlight. It can tolerate most soil types, requiring you keep it moist, well-drained and ensure watering is kept to a regular, consistent level.
