One of the most popular Acer varieties, palmatum Atropurpureum is a deciduous shrub that develops elegant, deeply lobed leaves with an attractive deep purple colour. This colour lasts all through spring and summer, before turning into a vivid crimson red in the autumn months, providing a burst of fantastic colour later in the year.

This japanese maple prefers to be planted in full sun, but can easily adapt to a partially shaded position in your garden. Atropurpureum can tolerate most soil types, so long as the planting area is moist, but well-drained. We would like to remind customers that the images are for illustration purposes only.
