Cut Leaved Mountain Ash trees offer an attractive upright pyramidal shape, ideal to create a focal point in a garden or grow as a border along the edges of a property.
Known in Latin as Sorbus aucuparia Asplenifolia, the tree features mid-green deeply cut, toothed leaves giving it a fern-like effect. The leaves turn to an eye-catching orange and red in autumn. April to May sees an abundance of white flowers that attract insects and bees. The flowers become glossy red berries as autumn approaches and are popular with blackbirds and thrushes, bringing an abundance of wildlife, bird song and colour into your garden.
The Mountain Ash tree has an upright pyramidal, compact shape. It is fully hardy and will thrive in full sun or light shade. Plant in moist well-drained soil and try to avoid chalky areas. It can tolerate pollution and exposed areas, making it ideal for planting in city gardens. Your tree will attain heights of 5m with a spread of 3m in a 20 year period.
