Shepody - McCain Seed Potatoes (Main Crop)

• Characteristics: This main crop variety of McCain Seed Potato are a versatile selection that produce a high yield of potatoes. 'Shepody' are oval-shaped tubers, with cream flesh and smooth, thin skin. Their versatility means they are great for boiling, baking, mashing and, in particular, making tasty french fries.
• Harvesting Period: 'Shepody' will harvest in the months of July - August.
• Planting Advice: Main crop potatoes should be planted in late March. If potatoes have been previously grown for two years in succession, avoid planting in the same plot. Instead, an area that is sheltered with full sun and moist, well-drained soil is recommended. However, if space is limited, they can also be grown in potato bags on a patio.
• Care & Maintenance: Keep seed potatoes away from frost pockets and ensure sunlight is present as much as possible. You should water them regularly, aiming to keep the soil moist and well-drained throughout their growth.

McCain 'Shepody' Main Crop Seed Potatoes are versatile and high yielding, making them a popular variety to grow. The oval-shaped tubers bear a cream flesh and smooth, thin skin. The versatility of the potatoes means they can be used in many culinary ways, including boiling, baking, mashing and, in particular, making tasty french fries. They should be planted in late March and will harvest in the months of July - August. Place them in a sheltered plot of the garden in moist, well-drained soil. If space is limited, growing them in potato bags is another suitable option.

You should avoid planting them in the same plot where potatoes have been grown for two years in succession. Full sunlight, moist, well-drained soil and well rotted manure is recommended. The potatoes should be planted in rows, spaced out by 45cm. The rows themselves should be spaced out by 75cm. Then, plant the seed potatoes in 10cm deep holes and refill them with soil. Once their shoots reach 20cm, mound up the soil around the shoots. Repeat this process after another 3 weeks of growth.
