Characteristics: Hardy, dwarf evergreen shrub with dark green leaves that turn bronze in Winter, younger leaves will take on a red shade in this period. Its funnel-shaped, yellow flowers will bloom in Spring. Supplied plant height of 15-25cm.
Height and Spread: Ultimate height of 0.5m and maximum spread of up to 1m.
Care and Maintenance: Can be placed in full sun or partial shade and will tolerate most moist, well-drained soils. Water well until established, maintaining regular watering afterwards.
Period of Interest: Evergreen foliage maintains year-round interest. Yellow flowers bloom from mid-late Spring.
Rhododendron Wren is a garden shrub that grows up to 0.5m tall and has dark green leaves that take on a bronze colour in Winter. The main attraction is, of course, the plant's pale yellow, funnel-shaped flowers which will begin to bloom in Spring. Darker markings appear on the ends of slender stamens from the centre of each flowerhead, whilst its evergreen foliage ensures year-round interest so the lovely flowering has the perfect backdrop.
This plant is ideal for adding a burst of colour into a pot or container on its own. It is also an attractive way to complement other flowers within bedding, borders or plant displays.
Rhododendrons are low maintenance shrubs. Place them in partial shade. They will tolerate most soils that are kept moist and well-drained. Water them well until established, then maintain regular watering afterwards.
