Height & Spread: Grows to around 1.5m tall, spreads to roughly 1.5m wide.
Period of Interest: Year-round interest. Rounded clusters of funnel-shaped, ruffled pink flowers blooming in late Spring. Flower grow to paler lavender as they mature.
Plant Advice: Plant In moist, humus-rich, well-drained acidic soils. Prefers partial shade. Delicate exposed roots may be damaged from stong sunlight or harsh Winter frosts so mulch or peat is advised.
Rhododendron yakushimanum 'Caroline Allbrook' is a colourful low-growing compact perennial, an extremely attractive variety with striking flower colours. It forms a neat evergreen shrub with dark-green, leathery foliage, and develops large trusses of lilac-pink coloured flowers in May before they eventually fade to a softer, pale lavender-violet towards the end of July.
This plant does well in both shaded and fully exposed areas, and looks fantastic when planted with other rhododendrons, for best results it's recommended you plant in well drained moist soil, in an area with lots of organic matter such as leaf mould or ericaceous compost.
