Product description

This beautiful Japanese variety brings a touch of soft, romantic colour to the garden, producing an abundance of delicate, pale pink blossoms tipped with vibrant purple. Beyond its gorgeous spring flowers and sweet perfume, it also offers incredible autumn interest when its deciduous leaves turn a brilliant, golden yellow. It is a massive, fast-moving climber that demands respect and a solid framework.

To care for 'Rosea', plant it in full sun, ideally against a dark brick wall or dark-stained timber trellis so the pale pink flowers visually "pop" against the background. Guide its flexible, clockwise-twining stems along heavy-duty horizontal wires. Water deeply at the base during dry spells, and ruthlessly cut back the long, leafy summer shoots to ensure the plant channels its energy into next year's pink flower buds.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Instructions

Top Tip

The delicate pale pink flowers can look "washed out" against white masonry. Plant Wisteria Rosea against a dark brick or timber background to make the color pop.

How to Water

To water Wisteria Rosea, soak deeply once a week in year one to build strong roots. Once mature, let the topsoil dry out, but keep it moist while its pale pink buds develop. Always water the base.

How to Plant

To plant Wisteria Rosea, dig a hole twice as wide as the rootball but exactly the same depth. Enrich the excavated soil with a generous scoop of compost to ensure a nutrient-rich loam. Place the vine in the hole, making absolutely sure the knobbly graft union sits safely above the soil line. Backfill firmly, tie the main stem clockwise to your dark wall, and water deeply to settle the roots.
