Product description
Spearmint is the quintessential culinary herb cultivated primarily for the bright, refreshing aroma found in its pointed, serrated green leaves. This versatile flavour, which is sweeter and much less pungent than the sharp heat of peppermint, is released abundantly when the foliage is chopped or muddled. It is traditionally used as the classic accompaniment to roast lamb in mint sauce, a key ingredient in cocktails like mojitos and juleps, and a refreshing addition to peas and new potatoes.
This plant is typically grown as a vigorous, upright, hardy perennial that spreads rapidly via aggressive underground runners. It is extremely robust and frost-tolerant, dying back to the ground in winter and returning reliably in spring. For the best results and lush growth, plant it in a location with partial shade, though it will also manage in full sun if kept damp. It is not drought-tolerant and thrives in fertile, heavy soil that is kept consistently moist through regular watering.
Please Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only - The plant will be supplied in a growers pot.
Garden Plant Size Guide

Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
Spearmint roots are notoriously invasive. To prevent it from colonizing your entire garden, always plant it in a pot or sink a bucket with drainage holes into the ground to restrict its spread.
How to Water
Spearmint thrives in damp conditions. Keep the soil consistently moist; if allowed to dry out completely, the plant becomes susceptible to powdery mildew and rust.
How to Plant
Plant Spearmint in rich, moisture-retentive soil. It is a hungry plant, so divide the clumps every few years and replant them in fresh compost to prevent the center of the plant from becoming woody and bare.
