Product description

Flat Leaf Parsley is a culinary powerhouse cultivated primarily for the robust, clean flavour found in its broad, serrated green leaves. This superior taste, which is significantly stronger and more refined than that of curly varieties, allows it to stand up well to heat and blending. It is traditionally used as a primary flavouring ingredient rather than just a garnish, indispensable in bouquet garni, pasta sauces, stocks, and stews, where it adds a deep, savoury freshness.

This plant is typically grown as a vigorous, hardy biennial that produces tall, open stems of foliage. It is generally cold-tolerant and can often survive mild winters to provide early fresh greens the following season. For the best results and the most rapid production of leaves, plant it in a location with partial shade or full sun. It is not drought-tolerant and thrives in deep, fertile soil that is kept consistently moist through regular watering.

Please Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only - The plant will be supplied in a growers pot.

Instructions

Top Tip

Don't throw away the stems! The stalks of Flat Leaf Parsley carry as much flavour as the leaves. Finely chop the stems to use in the base of soups and stews, saving the tender leaves for stirring in at the end.

How to Water

Flat Leaf Parsley requires consistent moisture to produce tender leaves. If the soil dries out completely, the plant will become tough, bitter, and may bolt (go to seed) prematurely.

How to Plant

Plant Flat Leaf Parsley in deep, fertile soil to accommodate its long taproot. It takes up more space than curly parsley, so give it room to spread. Be patient when sowing seeds, as they can take up to six weeks to germinate.
