Product description
Oregano 'Hot 'n' Spicy' is a distinct and potent cultivar cultivated primarily for the intense, tongue-tingling heat found in its aromatic leaves. This fiery flavour, which combines the traditional savoury notes of oregano with a sharp, peppery kick similar to mild chili, is released instantly when the foliage is consumed fresh or dried. It is traditionally used to add depth and bite to Mexican and Southern Italian dishes, particularly salsas, chili con carne, and spicy marinades where a little extra heat is desired.
This plant is typically grown as a spreading, hardy perennial that forms a lush mound of rounded, green foliage. It is generally cold-tolerant, though it may die back in harsh winters and re-emerge in spring. For the best results and the most pungent "spicy" oils, plant it in a location with full sun. It is highly drought-tolerant once established and thrives in poor, gritty, and free-draining soil, as rich or damp soil will dilute its signature fiery taste.

Garden Plant Size Guide

Plants in larger pots can be multiple years older than their smaller counterparts with more mature root systems and foliage. This makes them able to thrive as a full size plant in your garden quicker than smaller alternatives.
The most common size of pot that garden plants come in are 9cm/1L/3L/5L this is in reference to the diameter at the top of the pot.
9cm potted plants still remain the most popular cost effective option though, they just may take a little patience to allow them to grow into full maturity once planted in your garden.

Top Tip
Oregano Hot 'n' Spicy lives up to its name - its flavour is significantly stronger than common oregano. When cooking, start with half the amount you would usually use and taste as you go to avoid overpowering your dish with its peppery heat.
How to Water
Like its relatives, Oregano Hot 'n' Spicy prefers dry conditions. Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out almost completely between waterings. It is far more likely to suffer from overwatering than underwatering.
How to Plant
Plant Oregano Hot 'n' Spicy in a warm, sunny spot with sharp drainage. It is an excellent candidate for terracotta pots or raised beds where drainage is optimal. If planting in the ground, adding gravel or coarse sand to the planting hole is highly recommended.
